Jim
Brown is a 21-year employee with Viterra (formerly SWP). He currently
works in Viterra’s Balgonie Grain facility in Balgonie where his
primary responsibilities include quality control, shipping, receiving,
and processing. He is a member of the EH&S committee and the NH3
emergency response team.
Jim identifies communication issues as a major challenge within GSU.
“With GSU members spread out over three provinces it’s
difficult to get information out to union members and those employed by
the company,” Brown said. “I hope my new role as GSU vice
president will provide me with opportunities to communicate current
facts to the members and to relay membership concerns to GSU’s
elected officers.”
“I’m looking forward to serving the membership and giving
the workforce someone to contact and communicate with.”
Jim lives in White City with his wife, Charlene, and their daughter,
Jennifer.
