- Unions have
the
legal right to bargain
with employers about all kinds of issues, not just wages and working
conditions.
If your workplace was unionized, your union would bargain a collective
agreement with your employer based on the priorities that you and your
co-workers identify.
- Your
collective
agreement protects
your wages and working conditions. It also gives you a way to
challenge
actions and decisions that management makes, without having to worry
you’ll
lose your job as a result. Experienced union staff work with you
and represent you in bargaining and other meetings with your employer.
- As a member of
the
Grain Services
Union, you would join with 1,500 other GSU members to support one
another
and gain access to: negotiating support, grievance handling, Workers’
Compensation
Board and Employment Insurance appeals, labour education, arbitration
and
legal representation, pension-plan administration, and other services.
